Kids Church

Kids Church is our Sunday morning children’s program. It runs at the same time as our Sunday morning 9:30am service and caters to all children from babies up to children in year 6.

Who is in charge at Kids Church?

Our Kids Church program is coordinated by Chris Roberts and Janna Artuz and over 30 volunteers.

Our Kids Church program would not be possible without the help of our amazing Kids Church Volunteer Team – made up of people at all stages of life, our volunteers have completed an induction and screening process, have a valid Working with Children Check and complete regular safety training including Creating Safe Spaces. Our Kids Church team is unmistakeable with their blue vests and name badges.

They will be there to welcome you and your family with a smile on a Sunday!

What do my children learn?

At Kids Church we seek to make disciples of Jesus by nurturing and growing our children in their faith and knowledge of God. We do this through actively modelling the Father’s love to them, teaching them the Bible and empowering them to live their life in step with the Holy Spirit.

We believe in the power of:

  • TRANSFORMATION through the love of God
  • EMPOWERING through the Word and Spirit
  • RAISING UP a generation full of faith, love and life!
  • CREATIVITY to bring God’s Word in fun, kid-focused and engaging ways!

Orange Curriculum:

We use a fantastic children’s ministry curriculum called Orange, more specifically the 252 Kids program and the First Look program. Orange comprehensively covers the Bible and provides excellent age-based material made for kids! We adopt this material to suit our children’s needs and to help spark our creativity!

Where do my children go?

When you arrive at Church on Sunday you will enter via a side gate next to the main church building. As you enter you will see a courtyard area with the main church door to your right and ahead an entrance to the back of the church with a tall Kids Church sign welcoming you! Go to the sign and you will find our Kids Church sign in desk and our kids church team member will direct you on which rooms your children will go to for Kids Church.

We have three Kids Church rooms based on age groups:

Splash Zone – This room is for infant children up to two years old. During the program the children have play time, are read a Bible story and sing songs!

Bright Lights – This room is for pre-school children aged 3-5 years old. During the program the children have outside play time, a craft, a Bible story, musical worship and more!

Kingdom Shakers – This room is for children in primary school. During the program we split up into two small groups: one older primary group and one younger primary group. In Kingdom Shakers we play games, watch videos, hear a Bible story, learn a memory verse and engage in musical worship – plus small groups where children get to ask questions, make a craft or play a game, pray for each other and go deeper in their faith!

What do I need to know?

Food – We provide gluten-free crackers to our pre-school aged children during the program. When you register your children you can tell us of any dietary requirements. We ask parents and guardians if they wish to bring food to only bring food for their own children and not share their food with any other children, as our Kids team is aware of all allergies and wishes to keep all children safe.

Learn, Laugh, Love Policy – We encourage children to participate in Kids Church by using the 3 L’s:

Learn – Our children are encouraged to learn about God and experience how amazing He is!

Laugh – Our children are encouraged to have fun in activities like games, dramas and dancing!

Love – Our children are encouraged to show God’s love to others by treating each other with respect, treating leaders with respect and being kind, caring and generous to each other.

We use this framework to help our children make good choices in Kids Church, find out more about how this works in person at the sign-in desk.

This year we have our annual Family Movie Night and have two further events planned for later in the year (COVID depending).

Family Games Night – Friday September 3rd (COVID depending)

Family Gingerbread Night – Friday December 3rd (COVID depending)

Feedback

Feedback is a vital part of our church, we aim to always be improving our programs and we do this by providing ways for our children, parents and guardians to give their feedback and have a say!

You can provide feedback in several ways:

  • In person – via a feedback form located at our sign in desk or by speaking to any children’s ministry leader on a Sunday
  • Online – quarterly online surveys sent via email and available on our website, or you can directly email Chris at chris.roberts@manlylife.org.

Children can have a say in many ways at Church:

  • Children can vote for songs, games and our teaching program on Sundays in Kids Church.
  • Children are encouraged to participate in our quarterly surveys with parent or guardian help.
  • Kids Church Council – Every year a group of children of all ages is formed, this group meets once a year with the elders and church leadership to have their say on the church and share their thoughts and ideas!
  • Children are encouraged to serve as junior leaders in Kids Church as they get older and also encouraged to use their spiritual gifts in the many ministries at Manly Life.
  • Our children are regularly involved or running the main church service including performing kids songs and joining in with worship plus much more!

Concerns: If anybody has a complaint about our program they are encouraged to go through our Complaints Handling Procedure.

“It takes a Village to Raise a Child”
so let’s grow our children together in the Name of Jesus.

See you at church everyone! Chris, Janna and the Kids Church team!
